Barnes and Noble Poster
Project Brief: The premise of this school project was that we were hired by the Book Binders of America to create marketing materials to promote literacy and publicize a book of our choice. It could be a new release or a re-release of a classic. If the book had been made into a movie, we were not permitted to utilize imagery from the movie. This promotional poster series would be sponsored by Barnes & Noble and Pepsi and would be hung in retail stores country wide. The project required us to interpret and imply in our design the topic, theme, or plot. The end user should be enticed to seek out and purchase the book after seeing the poster.
Project Goal: Promote literacy and publicize a significant book to consumers.
Challenge: This marketing poster must promote the reading of books with new appropriate imagery, with no application of the existing cover art or any existing marketing materials. It was challenging to shift pre-existing ideas about past artwork for these classic books and create an updated design for young and new readers.
Solution: I illustrated a perfect looking city, and in the reflection, I created a destroyed city, symbolizing their true feelings living in "perfection."
